Five Tars Earn All-South Region Recognition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Five Tars have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Teams, the organization has announced.  Junior forward Kathryn O'Brien headlines the group with a First Team recognition.  Junior shot stopper Kelly Rowswell and senior midfielder Jill Richards each earned Second Team honors, while midfielders Kiera McMeekan and Meghan Mosley captured Third Team spots.

Kathryn O'Brien started 16 games for the Tars, leading Rollins with seven goals, and 16 points during her junior campaign.  The West Springfield, Massachusetts native also added two assists on the year.  Her pair of game winning goals tied for second on the Rollins team.  She was also named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference.

Kelly Rowswell has maintained a .846 save percentage while giving up just .84 goals per game, both the second best numbers in the conference.  She led the SSC with 7 clean sheets on the year.  The junior net minder was also named SSC Defensive Player of the Week twice and First Team All-SSC.

Jill Richards experienced her most productive season as a senior.  The Winter Park native appeared in 17 games for Rollins, starting 16.  She tallied four goals to go along with a team leading six assists, good for 14 points, second most on the squad.  She went a perfect 3-3 from the penalty spot during the campaign.

Kiera McMeekan saw action in all 18 Tars' contests on the year, starting 17 of them.  She controlled the middle of the field, and was a key part of Rollins team that surrendered just .88 goals per game.  Along with her defensive duties the Naples, Florida native also scored three goals for a total of six points.

Meghan Mosley made an immediate impact in her first season in the Blue and Gold.  The freshman started 17 games for Rollins.  She ended the year with two assists, tallying her first career point with a helper against Tusculum.  The Ormond Beach native played a vital role in linking the Tars through the midfield.

Rollins finished the year with a 9-4-5 record, and unbeaten on the turf of Barker Family Stadium.  The Tars season ended in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-1 overtime loss to eventual semifinalist Lee.
