School Records Fall to Close Panther Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. (November 18, 2018) – Makenzie Grider and Beatriz Olivieri both picked up wins to highlight Rollins final day of the Florida Tech Panther Invitational.

Olivieri won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:01.80; a school record, NCAA B cut and currently the fastest time in the nation. The freshman had a huge weekend, posting the nation's fourth fastest 500-yard freestyle time (4:58.31), the 16th-fastest 200-yard freestyle (1:51.97), the 11th-fastest 100-yard butterfly time (56.32) and was part of the school record 800-yard freestyle relay team.

Grider started the day with a resounding win in the 1650-yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 17:19.78 to set another school record. Sydney Willis was second in 17:33.53 and Grace Hansen fifth in 17:55:08.

Marisa Gingerich finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.76) and Maya Thompson finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (52.79). 

Cara Dealy was eighth in the 200-yard fly (2:10.90) and Hansen ninth (2:13.10). 

Rollins totaled 323 points at the three-day event, finishing fifth. West Florida took the team title while North Florida was second.

Rollins closes the first semester with a trip to Savannah, Georgia for the SCAD Invitational Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
