Leading Off

Rollins will continue their March homestand with four more games at Alfond Stadium this week. The Tars are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the 72nd Annual Baseball Week that included wins over Palm Beach Atlantic and Malone (twice). Assumption College, out of Worcester, Mass, is in the middle of a nine-game Florida road trip. They have gone 3-1 so far, including a win over #13 Nova Southeastern on Sunday. Lynn posted four wins at home last week, scoring 56 runs in the process.

Scouting Reports 

Rollins (12-8, 2-1 SSC): Leadoff hitter Cameron Meehan continued his amazing start to the season with three multi-hit games last week. After being put out in his first at bat against Eckerd on Saturday, the center fielder has reached base in nine straight plate appearances. He added a two home run game against the Tritons on Saturday, and scored three times against Malone on Sunday. He leads the team in runs, hits, extra base hits, triples, home runs, RBI, average, and on-base percentage. Shortstop Adams Torres has also been heating up at the plate. The junior drove in at least one run in all four games last week, including hitting his third home run of the year. The Tars are hitting .277 as a team, which is 9th in the Sunshine State Conference. 

Drew Daczkowski turned in his fourth quality start of the year against Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday evening, scattering seven hits over seven innings while allowing one run and striking out five. The big righty ranks in the top five in the SSC in ERA, innings, wins, and is 8th in strikeouts. Tate Stone-Frisina also had a quality start for the Tars, lowering his season ERA to 3.64. The Rollins team ERA sits at 3.43, third-best mark in the SSC.

Assumption (4-6-1, 0-0 NE10): The Greyhounds are on fire at the plate, scoring 46 runs in their last four games while posting a 3-1 record. Catcher Matt Schneider, the reigning NE10 Player of the Week, is pacing the offense with a .313/.450/.719 slash line, while also leading the team in extra base hits (two doubles, one triple, three home runs). Matt Lonardo also has three dingers on the year, and Connor Wironen leads the team in hits with 13. Cole Chudoba is the ace of the staff, sporting a 0.89 ERA over 20.1 innings. He is also the team leader in strikeouts with 19 against only four walks on the year. The Greyhounds ahve already had 15 different pitchers throw at least one inning this year.  

Lynn (13-7-1, 4-2 SSC): The Fighting Knights offense is on a roll with 56 runs scored over their last four games. They also have two SSC series wins against Eckerd and Saint Leo. Trevor Romeo is the catalyst for the offense. The senior is slashing an absurd .403/.465/.571, with his average ranking 5th best in the SSC. He has a hit in 19 of 20 games played, and is tied with Rollins' Meehan for third most in in conference with 31. Sophomore Byron Murray is up to seven home runs and 23 RBI on the year for the conference leading Knights offense. Nicholis Prather is having success on the mound for Lynn with a 4-0 record paired with 36 strikeouts in 32 innings. Misael Castillo matches Prather in innings with 33, and has a slightly better 3.82 ERA on the year.  Lynn is 8-1-1 at home, but only 4-6 away from Boca Raton this year.

On Deck

Rollins will hit the road for the first time in ten games on Tuesday when they travel to St. Augustine to face Flagler. Then it is back home in Winter Park for a three-game set against Palm Beach Atlantic. They will play once on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
