LAKELAND, Fla. (February 11, 2020) – Rollins shot its best round of the tournament on Tuesday and moved up a spot to finish eighth at the Matlock Collegiate Classic.
The 19th-ranked Tars posted rounds of 299-305-298 to finish 38 over par.
Columbus State was the runaway winner with a six-under score of 858. Florida Tech was second at 11-over while Florida Southern finished third, two strokes back (+13).
Nicholas Diebel led the way for the Tars, tying for 21st-place at seven-over. He came into the day tied for 25th after scores of 77-73 on Monday. The sophomore started on No. 9 and got to one-under after three holes. He was two over at the turn and found two birdies to just one bogey to finish with another 73.
Trystan Perkins tied for 37th, posting a 10-over score of 226. He hung rounds of 70-79 on Monday and came back with a 77 on Tuesday.
Nicholas Bessire and Will Hall tied with six others for 47th place, shooting 13-over scores of 229. Bessire turned in scores of 78-78 and a solid final round 73 while Hall shot 74-80-75. Danny Taggart tied for 59th at 16-over, shooting 80-75-77.
The Tars are back in action March 8-10 in Valdosta, Georgia for the 2020 Southeastern Intercollegiate.
