Rollins Wins Their Third Straight
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 18, 2014) -

The Tars won their third straight match on Saturday night, defeating Eckerd, 2-1, on the road in conference play.

With the win, Rollins improves to 4-2-1 in SSC play and 8-4-1 overall. Eckerd falls to 2-9-1 overall and remains winless in conference play at 0-4-1.

The Tars narrowly outshot the Tritons, 16-15, for the game but took 10 corners compared to Eckerd's two.

Tosan Popo and David Kuckkahn provided the offense, both with a goal each, with Grant Blackhurst and Tomas Coulter recording assists. Popo has now scored in two straight games.

In goal, Parker Sweeney made his third straight start, improving to 3-0 after playing the full 90 minutes and recording a career high six saves.

Popo opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving Rollins a 1-0 lead that they would carry through the half and deep into the second period.

Eckerd would pull even in the 70th minute but Kuckkahn again gave the Tars a one-goal advantage just four minutes later, his second of the year.

Rollins' defense held the rest of the way to escape St. Petersburg with the SSC win.

The Tars will now take a full week off before traveling to Tampa on Saturday, October 25th. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Fans that can't make it to the game can listen to all the action live on the Geico Tars Sports Network on
