Missed Opportunities Doom Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 22,2018) – Rollins dropped their second game in a row, falling to Barry 1-0, at Barker Family Stadium.  The No. 14 Tars now sit at 6-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in Sunshine State Conference play.  Barry, who received votes in the latest poll, improve to 6-1-0 and 2-0-0 in SSC action.

Stefan Avram led Rollins with five shots, three on target, while Cyrus Siminou, Christian Adams, and Damian Clarke all took two shots a piece.  Abdiel Martinez made three saves, playing the full 90 minutes in net for Rollins.  Flavio Colasanti scored the match's lone goal for the Bucs.  Marco Sordi made eight saves for Barry, including stopping a pair of Tars' penalty attempts.

Both teams probed in the first half, but neither squad could find a decisive possession.  The Tars got an opportunity early in the second half, with a penalty kick, but Sordi produced his first of two such stops on the evening.  Colasanti tallied eight minutes later, cutting the ball back onto his left foot and curling the ball into the side netting.  Sordi saved another Rollins penalty in the 76th minute.  The Tars peppered the Barry box for the final stretch but could produce a goal.

The Tars return to action on Wednesday, September 26, when they host 2017 National Runner-Up Lynn to Barker Family Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
