Tars Stymied by Argos in Season Opener

Tars Stymied by Argos in Season Opener

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 13, 2019) – Rollins opened the season with a hard fought match against West Florida on Friday, but came up on the wrong end of a 1-0 score.

After a scoreless first half, UWF (3-0) scored the only goal of the game on a Bernardo Torres strike in the 67th minute.

Rollins (0-1) had shots on goal from Dominik Adomakoah in the first half and Christian Adams to start the second, but both were stopped by Argos keeper Jihad Gomes.

Maximillian Obermeier played all 90 minutes in goal for the Tars, racking up three saves.

West Florida out-shot Rollins 11-7 on the day as both team's attacks were slowed by wet and windy conditions.

Rollins will look to bounce back on Sunday, September 15 hosting 18th-ranked Spring Hill at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
