BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 28, 2019) – The Tars pushed No. 5 Lynn to the brink, but were unable to find the back of the net, falling 1-0 to the Fighting Knights. The Tars fall 1-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in Sunshine State Conference action. Lynn remains unbeaten at 5-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in SSC play.
Lynn fired off 15 shots, putting five on frame, including six shots from Lucas Hombach. The lone Fighting Knights tally came courtesy of a Rollins own goal.
Maximillian Obermeier played the full 90 minutes in net for Rollins, making five saves and allowing just own goal. Konstantin Fuhry made three saves, while holding a clean sheet for Lynn.
Neither team could make a breakthrough for most of the first half. With time winding down on the period Alexandre Horveno made a run down the wing and delivered a driven cross low across the ground. The ball deflected off a Tars' defender into the top corner of the net past a defenseless Obermeier.
Rollins increased the pressure in the second half, but were still unable to find the back of the net. The Tars took all six of their shots in the second 45, and maintained pressure with four corner kicks.
The Tars will travel to the other coast for their next match. Rollins will take on the Eckerd Tritons next Saturday, October 5, at 7 p.m. in St. Peterburg.
