After a draw and loss last week the Tars are still in search of their first Sunshine State Conference win of the 2019 season. Rollins endured a long week of practice, with no games midweek, and will now turn their attention to the Eckerd Tritons. The Tars and Tritons will battle it out in St. Petersburg in a key conference match for Rollins as they look to find their footing in SSC play.
WHO TO WATCH:
Rollins (1-4-1, 0-1-1 SSC):
After surrendering a pair of goals against Florida Southern the Tars stormed back and earned a draw in their SSC opener last week. Then, on a visit to No. 5 Lynn the Tars were upended by an own goal, late in the first half, as they gave the highly touted Fighting Knights everything they could handle.
Dominic Adomakoh tallied the equalizer against the Mocs, and leads Rollins on the year with two goals and an assist, good for five points. Junior transfer Michael Landau has dished out two helpers to lead Rollins. Overall, six Tars feature on the scoresheet, as Rollins has gotten six goals from five different players. Maximillian Obermeier has seen most of the action in net for Rollins. The freshman has made 19 saves and maintained a .731 save percentage in 470 minutes of action.
Eckerd (6-2-1, 2-1-0 SSC):
The Tritons picked up a 3-0 win over Saint Leo on Wednesday, and are now on a two-match conference winning streak, defeating Tampa 2-1 in the previous week. Both victories came on the road.
Augustin Pertusso leads the attack for Eckerd, with seven goals and one assist on the year, good for a conference best 15 points. The junior has also tallied a pair of game winning goals. Blake Bauer sits second on the squad with four goals this season. Ty Dolan has scored twice while adding a team leading four assists, for a total of eight points. David Ormiston and Lynden Dawson have each seen time in net for the Tritons. Ormiston leads the way with a 4-1-0 record, 18 saves, a .818 save percentage, and a 0.71 goals against average.
- Last season the Tars bested Eckerd at home by a score of 2-1. Christian Adams picked up an assist in the victory.
- Rollins head coach Keith Buckley is currently 328-163-31 in 29 seasons at the helm of the Rollins men's soccer program.
The Tars will return to the friendly confines of Barker Family Stadium to take on the Saint Leo Lions. Kickoff is set for Wednesday, October 9, at 7 p.m.
