ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 5, 2019) – The Tars picked up a vital Sunshine State Conference win, coming from behind to defeat Eckerd 2-1 in St. Petersburg. The Tars improve to 2-4-1 overall, and 1-1-1 in SSC play. The Tritons fall to 6-3-1 overall, and 2-2-0 in conference action.
The Tritons leading scorer, Agustin Pertusso, registered the lone Eckerd tally. He was assisted by Max Scherer.
Maximillian Obermeier played the full 90 minutes, facing only two shots on target. The freshman keeper made one save, and surrendered just the one goal. The Tars forced six saves from Lynden Dawson, who was in net for Eckerd.
The Tritons got out to an early lead when a long corner kick was sent back across goal by Scherer, who found Pertusso for the goal. The Tars would equalize just 15 minutes later. Christian Adams had a shot saved, but the rebound fell to Koliniatis. The freshman touched the ball around one defender, and shot through the legs of another, beating the Triton keeper for Rollins first goal. The game winner would come just 12 minutes later when Adomakoh beat the Eckerd offside trap and sent the ball across the face of the goal into the path a sliding Landau, who sent the ball into the goal.
Rollins would see out the second half, allowing the Tritons only five total shots and one shot on goal, earning the road victory.
- With Adomakoh's assist to Landau the two are now tied for the team lead with six points; each has recorded two goals and two assists.
- Landau has scored the game winning goal in both of Rollins victories this year.
- Maximillian Oberemeier picked up his second career win in Blue and Gold, and his 20 saves on the season are tied for fourth in the SSC.
The Tars will return to the friendly confines of Barker Family Stadium to take on the Saint Leo Lions. Kickoff is set for Wednesday, October 9, at 7 p.m.
