Tars Tripped up at Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (October 26, 2019) – Rollins saw its three-game unbeaten streak come to an end Saturday, falling to Tampa 1-0 on the road.

The Tars drop to 4-6-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Sunshine State Conference play while UT improves to 6-6-1, 4-4-1 SSC.

Rollins was kept off the board for just the third time this season, due in large part by Spartan's keeper Jake Richards' six saves. Maximillian Obermeier stopped five shots for the Tars while allowing the one goal.

The Tars were hindered by playing a man down most of the game as Daniel Field was sent off with his second yellow card just 23 minutes into the game.

Travis Foster scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute, which proved to be the only tally of the night.

The Tars ramped up the offensive pressure in the second half and fired off eight shots, but all four on frame where saved by Richards.

With 11 points and sitting in sixth place in the SSC standings, the Tars are in the driver's seat to grab a spot in the SSC Tournament. A trip to Barry on Oct. 30 is followed by the home finale on Nov. 5 against Nova Southeastern. Wins in both will assure Rollins a spot in the postseason.

Game time with Barry is slated for 6 p.m. in Miami Shores. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at
