Rollins Closes SSC Championship in Sixth

CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 25, 2018) – Rollins ended the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championship with another record setting performance and NCAA B cut on Sunday. 

The Tars totaled 216 points in the championship, which was hosted by Rollins at The Long Center in Clearwater. Nova Southeastern captured a second-straight conference title while Florida Southern was second and Florida Tech third.

The Tars youth movement continued though the final day of the championship with the freshman class again making an impact. Elliot Wylie set a new school record in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:51.23, taking 11th place. 

Alex Norcini picked up another NCAA B standard and took sixth in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 15:48.54. 

Dan Sulkowski earned an 11th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.72. The Tars ended the championship with a sixth place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Paul Tobin, Norcini, Luke Waite and senior David Emson finished in 3:10.31. 

Those with NCAA B standards will next wait for selections for the NCAA Division II National championships, hosted in Greensboro, North Carolina March 14-17.
