The Tars fell to the Sharks 148-57 in the team scoring.

"I am thrilled with how the team performed in our season opener against NSU," said interim head coach Julianne Lehner. "They seized the opportunity to race the defending conference champions, and one of the strongest programs in the nation. Our energy was contagious and our positive outlook resulted in many phenomenal swims. I am extremely proud of the hard work we have been putting in, and feel this is a taste of all the success this team is going to have this season."
