WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2019) – The Tars ended their Spring Break slate with another victory, defeating Northwood, the No. 5 team in the Midwest Region, 4-0, at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex. The Tars improve to 10-2 in 2019. The Timberwolves fall to 4-5 overall.
Rollins took two doubles matches, earning the point, before leaving the third unfinished. Nicolo De Fraia and Frederick Danielson started the event with a 6-2 win on the second court. The pair of Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz and Atakan Gezer matched their teammates, winning 6-2 on the third court to earn the point. Ziad Melhaouio and Andrea Brignacca were ahead in the number one spot, 4-2, when the match was called.
The Tars would cruise through the first three singles decisions, earning the win. De Fraia breezed to his second win of the day, and earned the Tars' second point with a 6-2, 6-2 first court win. The senior currently sits at 11-0 on the year. Gezer put Rollins one win away from victory with his fourth court decision, 6-1, 6-4, over Pablo Salmanca. Senior Daniel Ferl sealed the victory for the Tars with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the sixth spot.
The Tars take a short break from competition, and will return to the court on Wednesday, March 20, when they host Florida National. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
