Pregame: 

The Tars went 1-1 last week, picking up a win at home against Florida National followed by a loss to #11 Lynn on Sunday morning. The Lynn game was a close one, with the Knights scraping by with a 4-3 win. The Tars wil look to build off their strong play in three matches this week. Embry-Riddle is 2-0 on the year so far with wins over Ave Maria and Florida National. In the SSC presason poll, Rollins was picked fourth, and ERAU was picked fifth. West Florida lost their first game of the year, but have now won four straight, including a three-match sweep over West Alabama, Montevallo, and Alabama Hunstville over the weekend. Valdosta State sits at 2-2 with wins over Georgia College and Shorter, and losses against #6 Lander and NAIA powerhouse Georgia Gwinnett. 

Scouting the Tars:

Andrea Brignacca has started off blazing hot for the Tars. The sophomore has a 3-0 record in singles action, and has also picked up a pair of wins in doubles with teammate Atakan Gezer. Gezer, a junior, has a pair of singles wins as well. Mikkel Baumann and Freddy Danielson are unbeaten in doubles play with a 3-0 record. Baumann, a true freshman, also has a flight two singles win under his belt. 

Scouting the Eagles:

This will be the SSC opener for the Eagles, who are 2-0 on the young season. Juan Ortiz Couder is coming off a phenomenal fall season that saw him go 10-1 in tournament play. In addition, he is 2-0 in flight one matches in dual meets. Andres Donayre and Alexis Guedy are also 2-0 in dual play so far, playing out of the second and third positions, respectively. Donayre was ranked as the #33 player in the ITA preseason national rankings. Donayre and Ortiz Couder have also posted an impressive 11-3 mark through the fall 2019 and sping 2020 seasons. 

Scouting the Argonauts

West Florida is on a four-match win streak after a successful weekend in Alabama. The #3 ranked Argonauts have an impressive roster full of talent. Serdar Bojadjiev is the ace of the Argos, checking in as the #11 singles player in the ITA poll. The Swedish native has an unblemished 4-0 record in singles play thus far. Senior Juan Cabrera joined Bojadjiev in the same preseason poll at #30 overall, but has struggled out of the gate with a 2-3 singles mark. 

Scouting the Blazers

Valdosta State was ranked #19 in the ITA preseason poll, and are 2-2 through their first four matches. Yohan Nguyen had an impressive fall, and was ranked as high as #7 in the country for singles by ITA. He and doubles partner Florian Simbozel also earned the #8 spot in the doubles poll. Nguyenhas played up to his reputation, outscoring his opponents 51 sets to 12 out of the first position. Simbozel is also undefeated in singles play out of the second flight.

Rollins will rest up after a long week of travel. The Tars don't have another match scheduled until March 7th at home agianst Wayne State.
