Men's Tennis Shuts Out Ferris State

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2020) - After a tough loss on Sunday, the Rollins men's tennis team buonced back with a strong 4-0 win over the visiting Ferris State Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Rollins was able to take the doubles point by winning two of the matchups. Flight three was the first to finish as Mikkel Baumann and Freddy Danielson outplayed Yannic Mader and Alec Olivier for a hard-fought 7-5 win. Ferris State stayed in it when their flight one team of Mathis Guerre and Pablo Baroja outlasted Luke Horan and Andrea Brignacca, 6-4. That put the pressure on flight two. It took an extra point, but in the end Gai Feigin and Atakan Gezer secured the victory with a 7-5 win over Josh McDermott and Cedric Rupa.

Rollins secured the match by winning the next three singles matches:

  • Leo Cordero was the first to finish with a quick 6-2, 6-0 win over McDermott in flight five. It was the third singles win of the year for Cordero.
  • Moritz Stenzer locked up his first career collegiate singles win in flight six by disposing of Rupa 6-1, 6-2.
  • Mikkel Baumann secured the match in flight four with a convincing 6-0, 6-4 win against Olivier. It was the second singles win on the year for the freshman.

The other three singles matches all went unfinished after Rollins clinched the day. Gai Feigin, Atakan Gezer, and Andrea Brignacca were all ahead in their matches when the match was called.

After a day off, Rollins will be back in action on Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
