MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 16, 2020) - The final Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week awards were handed out on Monday, and included recognition of Rollins senior Gai Feigin as the top men's tennis performer.
Feigin was key to the Tars success in the final week of their shortened season. Feigin and partner Atakan Gezer (who won the same award last week) went undefeated in doubles play through three matches. On Monday, they defeated Mohamed Belcora and Tom Schmieta of Bluefield State by a score of 6-2. On Wednesday, they took down Josh McDermott and Cedric Rupa of Ferris State in a close one, 7-5. They then wrapped the week (and season) with a win over Paul Voigt and Enej Hasicevic of St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-3.
In singles play, Feigin had a tough slate playing from position one. He was victorious 7-5, 6-4 against Frederik Bau-Madsen of Bluefield State on Monday, and also secured a win over Odysseas Papaioannau of St. Thomas Aquinas 7-6, 6-3 on Thursday. His singles match on Wednesday was against #16 Yannic Mader of Ferris State, but went unfinished after Rollins had clinched the match.
Feigin led the Tars this season with two position one singles wins.
