The Tars have returned to campus after Hurricane Dorian and now it's time to start the season strong at the Florida Tech Invitational. The men's team will kick off the season first with a 8K starting at 7:30, followed by the women's 5K.

The men's team has three returners this fall Jack Gabriel, Eric Grimm, and Ryan King. Last season at this event King took the lead and placed 46th, pushing a time of 32:01. Gabriel was three spots back in 33:26.

The women's team is on track for a strong start with four returners this fall Anna Belle Warren, Alex Lincher, Kerstin Carroll, and Laura Tobin. Tobin lead the way at last season event at FT Invite finishing 64th, in 26:25. Warren finished 67thand Lincher 69th

"I'm really looking forward to the season getting underway this weekend in Melbourne. Although we missed some valuable practice time late last week and early this week, it should still be a good indicator of everyone's fitness. I look for both Jack Gabriel and Ryan King to open up with strong races. They work well together and their workouts so far this season show that they've both put in some work over the summer. Eric Grimm is on the mend from an injury he sustained last fall, but has been very consistent so far. On the women's side, freshmen Nicole Rodriguez-Martinez and Angelina Khourisader look to be leading the way. It will be fun to watch them compete in their first collegiate race. We've got a strong group of girls behind Nicole and Angelina who I think can push one another to personal bests. This weekend I hope to see the Tars set a strong foundation that we can continue to build on throughout the rest of the fall."- Kaylyn Christopher

The Tars will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the Mountain Dew Gator Invitational at 8 am.
