Tars Continue to Improve on the Water

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (September 16, 2019) - Earlier Saturday morning 5 members of the Rollins Sailing team got on the road to travel to Jacksonville University for the South Points regatta #2.

On arrival the breeze was steady and the current was strong. After spending some time discussing strategy and the unique course conditions that JU has to offer Captains Nick Baker and Simon Munoz hit the water in A Division. They were followed by freshmen skippers Carly Orhan and Connor Teague, and crew Ruth Reischmann in B Division.

The Tars started to get into the swing of things after the first two sets, earning a third, a fourth, and a pair of fifth place finishes in A Division. Nick and Simon finished the day with a silver medal finish in the final race securing an eighth-place overall finish for Rollins, just 2 points behind the University of Miami.

Overall the team made steady progress and is improving with every race.  The Tars will venture to Miami for their next event.  The South Points 3 with take place on the waters of Biscayne Bay on Saturday, September 21.
