WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 2, 2020) – Senior Tianna Rosser posted 20 points and 16 rebounds, both career-highs, and led Rollins to a 76-62 win over Saint Leo.
The Tars move to 8-4 overall and 1-3 in the Sunshine State Conference while Leo falls to 5-8, 1-4 SSC.
Rosser was 8-of-13 from the field and hit all four free throws on the night. She hauled in 11 offensive rebounds as Rollins dominated the glass, outrebounding Saint Leo 65-33. The Tars had 37 second chance points due in large part to 37 offensive rebounds.
Alex Button paced Saint Leo with 17 points while Alani Gallagher recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Rollins hoisted up a school record 92 shots on the day and shot 35 percent from the field (32-92). Saint Leo hit 39 percent (20-52) from the field.
The Tars trailed by four after the first but came back to grab a 28-24 lead with 3:40 left in the opening half. The teams went back and forth for the next three minutes as a Chandler Hall free throw with 0.2 seconds left tied the score at 31 heading into intermission.
Rollins started to find its groove to start the second half and jumped out to a 44-37 lead five minutes into the third quarter. The Tars owned a 50-46 advantage heading into the fourth.
After leading by six twice, Rollins saw Saint Leo string together some buckets and closed the gap to 57-56 with 6:15 to play. Daniels then scored six-straight points to right the ship as the Tars would go on to lead by as many as 14 down the stretch.
