CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (October 11, 2019) – Playing in a field comprised of the top NCAA Division I teams in the nation, Rollins shot an opening round 302 to tie for 16th at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
The Tars matched scores with UNC Wilmington and is just one back of Tulane and four behind Virginia.
Wake Forest was six-under and leads the field while Kentucky and Alabama are tied for second at five-under. Host North Carolina and Ohio State round out the top-five at four-under. The Buckeye's Aneka Seumanutafa posted a six-under 66 and tops the leaderboard by three strokes.
Rollins senior Seher Atwal fired an even-par 72 and is tied for 24th to lead the Tars. Starting on the back, she was two-under at the turn after playing the back-nine bogey free. Atwal then bogeyed three of the first eight holes on the second nine before getting back to even with a birdie on the last hole of the day.
YeonJoo Kim is tied for 68th at four-over, shooting a first round 76. The freshman was three-over at the turn and played the second nine at one-over to climb up the leaderboard in the afternoon.
The second round of the Ruth's Chris is set for Saturday, October 12 at the UNC Finley Course. Rollins is grouped with UNC-Wilmington and NC State, starting at 10:39. Fans can follow the action with live scoring at GolfStat.com.
