ORLANDO, Fla. (October 29, 2019) – Just eight shots separated the top three teams at the 2019 Rollins Legends Invitational with Dallas Baptist edging Nova Southeastern and Rollins to capture its second-straight title.
The order of finish at the top of the leaderboard is the exact same as last year's inaugural event.
DBU turned in rounds of 293-303-299 to finish 31 over for the tournament. NSU was right behind at 35-over. Rollins carded scores of 302-302-299 to post a 39-over 903. Barry (+40) and Lynn (+43) rounded out the top-five.
"It is an honor to host an event at such a fantastic venue as the Country Club of Orlando," said Rollins Director of Golf and head coach Julie Garner. "The top-notch facility guaranteed an outstanding field, which included 7 of the top 10 teams in the country according to Golfstat."
Rollins was led by Liza Eubanks, who finished tied for third at four-over. The freshman was even par to start and posted a 74 second round to find herself in second heading into the final day. She came back with a solid 74 on Tuesday and kept pace with some of the nation's top-ranked individual players.
Seher Awtal was a big mover in the final round, tying for 32nd after a 12-spot leap. The senior posted scores of 79-80 on day one and fired a three-birdie 74 Tuesday to finish 17-over. YeonJoo Kim also climbed up the leaderboard on Tuesday, finishing tied or 37th with rounds of 81-79-76 (+20).
"As far as our team's performance, we are thrilled to see Liza Eubanks continue her solid play with a T3 this week. Selin also came through for us, finishing T5. And the opportunity to play everyone on our roster helped us give players a chance to get some competitive experience."
Makenna Brown played as an individual and tied for 37th at 20-over, shooting scores of 76-77-83.
The Tars also brought a B team that finished 10th in the standings, shooting rounds of 321-316-307.
"Katharina Hesse took full advantage of the opportunity and landed in the top 10," added Garner. "Our top 5 all shot 74-76 today which helped us finish well. So many bright spots from top to bottom of our lineup! It is a solid way to end the fall season, and we will assess where we are in relation to our team and individual goals. Spring is right around the corner, and we will be ready!"
The Rollins Legends Invitational concludes the fall season. The Tars are back in action February 17-18 at the Florida Southern Lady Moc Classic.
