WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 2, 2020) – After a week off from competition Rollins remains in the top-10 in both National Polls. The IWLCA places the Tars at No. 9 in the rankings, up one spot from last week. Nike/US Lacrosse has the Tars hold steady at No. 8.
Rollins took a week off from competition after their hotly contested battle with then No. 1 Adelphi. Rollins fell to the Panthers 13-12 in overtime, suffering their first loss of 2020. The Tars have wins over South Region foes Montevallo, Alabama-Huntsville, and Saint Leo. Hannah Ashton and Lily Rizk are tied for the team lead with 13 goals this season.
Both rankings see the nation's top-five very differently. LeMoyne takes over the top-spot in the IWLCA Poll, jumping West Chester, who drop to No. 2 this week. Lindenwood, Adelphi and Queens then round out the top-five. The Nike/US Lacrosse ranks show Lindenwood as the top team, followed by Queens at No. 2 for the second straight week. LeMoyne occupies the third spot, and West Chester sits in fourth. Regis moves up one spot into the top-five.
Florida Southern, at No. 7, is the highest ranked Sunshine State Conference team in the IWLCA Poll. They are followed by Rollins at No. 9, and Tampa, at No. 10. Saint Leo continues to sit in the middle of the poll, dropping two spots to No. 18 this week. The No. 8 Tars are pinnacle of SSC teams in the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll. Tampa is one spot behind them, at No. 9, with the Mocs of Florida Southern at No. 12. Florida Tech, and Saint Leo each received votes.
The Tars start a busy week of action tonight, Monday, March 2, when they host Lander at Barker Family Stadium. The first draw is set for 7:30 p.m.
