Tars Attack Unstoppable Against Cougars

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 15, 2019) – The Tars could not be stopped on Sunday morning, as Rollins put up four goals, and held a clean sheet, for a 4-0 win over Colorado Christian.  The Tars improve to 3-1-0 overall.  The Cougars end their time in Florida 2-2.

Ally Rost was one of a number of offensive stars for the Tars on the day; the senior scored two goals for Rollins.  Hannah Menard tallied her first points on the Blue and Gold with three assists.  Kathryn O'Brien matched that mark courtesy of a goal and an assist.  Sarah Buckley tallied the remaining Rollins score.  Sarah Skala and Chynna McGirt each registered an assist.

Saige Stock led the Cougar offense with three shots, one of which was on target.  Sarah Feller, Brooke Schultz, and Amanda Lopez each took a pair of shots.

Elena Beasley made three save to preserve her first collegiate shutout.  Ashleight Maguire made four saves to go along with her four goals allowed.

Rollins got on the board early with Rost's first.  Skala danced through the Cougar defense before finding a cutting O'Brien with a through ball.  The forward turned and put a perfect ball across the face of goal for Rost to tap into the back of the net.  O'Brien would double the lead with her own goal less than two minutes later.  Menard sent a deep corner kick to the far post where O'Brien got her head to it and redirected it into the back of the net from a sharp angle.  Three minutes after Rollins second goal they found their third, as Rost earned her brace.  Another perfect corner kick from Menard found the senior alone in the six yard box, and she scored with a simple header.  The Tars would take a 3-0 lead before the 15 minute mark, and hold it into the locker room.

The Tars would control play in the second stanza before finally extending their lead in the 72nd minute.  Menard would put another dangerous cross in the box.  McGirt would settle it for Buckley, who blasted it home for her first goal of 2019.  Rollins would cruise through the final minutes, earning the 4-0 win.

  • Chynna McGirt has registered at least a point in each of the Tars first four games this season.
  • Kathryn O'Brien is poised to break into the Rollins all-time top-10 in both goals and points.  The senior need just one goal and one point to crack each list.
  • Ally Rost had scored one previous goal in her Rollins career, entering the game.
  • The Tars 3.250 goals per game average in second most in the SSC.
