KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 11, 2019) – Rollins senior forward Kathryn O'Brien has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American Squad, the organization has released. This is the first All-American honor for the West Springfield, Massachusetts native.
During her senior campaign, O'Brien has been named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region, D2CCA First Team All-South Region, Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, SSC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-SSC, to the SSC All-Tournament Team, and SSC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. O'Brien leads the Tars with 11 goals, while adding four assists, good for a team best 26 points. Her four game winning goals were tied for the most in the conference this season.
O'Brien rounds out her collegiate career with All-American recognition, after a decorated career at Rollins. She is a four time United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree, including three First Team awards. She has been recognized on the All-Sunshine State Conference Team three times, including First Team twice. She was named SSC Freshman of the Year in 2015, and has been named the SSC Offensive Player of the Week four times during her time in Blue and Gold.
Kathryn has earned spots on the SSC Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in every possible semester, and will be graduating with a degree in business.
The Tars finished the 2019 season with a record of 12-5-1. Rollins was named the SSC Regular Season Co-Champions, following an 8-2-0 conference campaign. The Tars finished as runners-up in the SSC Tournament before advancing to the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive season. The Tars season ended in the NCAA South Region Quarterfinals.
