VALDOSTA, Ga. (September 23, 2017) - The Tars resumed play in a rain soaked ITA South Regional Championship. Two singles competitors and a doubles team advanced passed day one in the main draw, before dropping in the late rounds of the event.

Fabiana Vitanza faced off against the third seeded Diana Bogoli in the singles round of 32. The Lynn Fighting Knight edged the Tar by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Alexandra Borg was also still battling in the main draw, but was forced to retire due to injury in her round of 32 match-up against Kalaga Bhargavi of Montevallo. Katie Dyson and Savanna Fuller each registered one win in the consilation bracket before bowing out.
Vitanza and Borg dropped their round of 16 match to the number one-seeded duo of Sonja Larsen and Verena Schmid of Barry. The Tars team battled but the top ranked pair, but ultimately fell 8-3.
Play in the ITA South Region Championship with continue tomorrow, Monday, September 25 in Valdosta, Georgia.
Each team in the South Region has an opportunity to compete in the event, and Singles and doubles champions from the four-day tournament will earn an automatic berth to the 2017 Oracle ITA Cup, which is scheduled for October 11-15, 2017. In addition, each divisional singles winner and Oracle Cup Doubles Champion will receive wildcards into the Division I ITA Fall National Championships on November 1-5, 2017 in Indian Wells, California.
