Tars Hook Sailfish in SSC Victory

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 16, 2019) – The Tars took home the victory in their final home match of 2019, downing Palm Beach Atlantic 4-3, at Bert Martin Tennis Complex.  With the top-50 win No. 47 Rollins improves to 10-10 on the year and 4-5 in SSC play.  The No. 49 Sailfish fall to 11-11, and 2-8 in conference play to end their campaign.

Palm Beach Atlantic took two of the three doubles decisions to earn the first point of the match.  Seniors Savanna Fuller and Carlye Goldman tallied the only Rollins win of team play.  The duo improved to 13-6 on the year with the 6-2 win.

The Tars turned the match around in singles play, taking the first four contests and securing the win.  Teresa Kaiser started the run, easing her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the fourth position.  Fuller tallied her second win of the day on the third court, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win to put Rollins up 2-1.  Marie Debruyn put Rollins on the brink of victory, sailing through the first set, then seeing out the second, with a 6-2, 6-4, sixth spot, win.  Alexandra Borg sealed the match for Rollins on the top court.  The junior was in control from the first serve, as she tallied a 6-2, 6-4 victory of her own.

Rollins will close the regular season with a trip to Tampa.  The Tars and Spartans will take to the court tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17, with first serve set for 3 p.m.
