Women Dominate in First Match of the Season

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 11, 2020) - The Rollins Women's Tennis team started their spring with a huge win defeating the Florida National Conquistadors 6-1 at home on Tuesday afternoon. 

Rollins made quick work of the Conquistadors in the two doubels matches that were played. Marie Debruyn and newcomer Polina Vlasova dominated flight two with a 6-1 win over Nathalia Vivas and Andrea Guzman. In flight one, Alexandra Borg and Ola Durzynski recorded a 6-2 victory against Candela Bonivardi and Sofia Pera to clinch the point for Rollins.

Debruyn was the first singles finisher, and she did so in impressive fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Lizabeth Ardanal. Durzynski followed suit with a win in flight two, 6-0, 6-1 versus Pera. Freshman Georgina Groth got in on the action next playing out of the third position where she won 6-0, 6-2 against Guzman. Kaitlynn Groves gave Rollins their fifth point of the day by defeating Vivas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. The Conquistadors avoided the shutout as Bonivardi was the winner in flight one over Borg.

Next up for the Tars is a tough matchup against #2 Lynn University. The Tars wil host the Fighting Knights at the Winter Park Tennis Center on Sunday, February 16th with first serve scheduled for 11 am.
