FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 27, 2019) - Rollins struggled to overcome the powerful attack of the Noav Southeastern Sharks, and fell in their matchup on Friday night in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-18).
The Tars started the game strong, posting ten kills on a .310 attack percentage. In fact they only had one attack error in the initial set. The only issue was that Nova Southeastern converted a whopping 19 kills at a .533 clip to take game one. Rollins led the set as late as 18-17, but a four point run by Nova made the score 21-18, and Rollins could not recover as they fell 25-20. Candace Doxey led the team with three kills in set one.
The second set was a forgettable one for Rollins, as the team fell behind early and never recovered. They were plagued by errors in this one, totaling ten on the attack for a -0.33 percentage. The Sharks were also able to record four service aces en route to their 25-19 win.
Set three showed a bit of an improvement for Rollins as they were back on the positive side of attack percentage, but it wasn't to overtake Nova. Harper Smith added four kills in this one, bringing her season total to a team-high 94.
Candace Doxey turned in her best game of the young season, posting six kills and two block assists. Alexis Yeager, the conference leader in blocks per set, added three more to her season total as well.
