Set Up

Rollins dropped a pair of games against Nova Southeastern and Lynn last week, and now sit at 4-8 overall, 1-3 in Sunshine State Conference play. Of their twelve games played, the Tars have only been the home team one time. They will look to settle in to their home court and bounce back this weekend.

Team Previews

Rollins: The Tars were swept 3-0 by Nova Southeastern last week, but played tough against first-place Lynn, winning one set and taking two others to extra points. Rollins has seen an impressive effort from their defense as of late. They currently rank 3rd in the conference in blocks at 1.95/set and have limited opponents to a .185 hitting percentage. Freshman Alexis Yeager still has a hold on the conference lead in blocks per set with a 1.34 mark. She is also the team leader in attack percentage at .349. Rachel Reeve is sixth in the conference in assists with 328, while Harper Smith is the team's top attacker with 109 kills.

Eckerd: The Tritons are 10-3 on the season, and defeated Saint Leo 3-1 in their matchup earlier this week. The Triton defense has been fantastic early in the season, as they lead the conference in lowest opponent attack percentage, opponent kills, and opponent assists. They are also tops in conference in service aces, posting 2.07 per set. In fact, the Tritons have five players with at least twelve service aces on the year.  Asya Harris ranks in the top 3 in kills with 156 on the season, while Sydney Case has 504 assists on the year, the most in the SSC.

Florida Southern: The Mocs, who sit at 2-10, have had a rough start to the season with a non-conference schedule that includes nationally ranked opponents Concordia-St. Paul and Central Missouri, as well as the usual gauntlet of quality SSC schools. Sixteen different players have seen action on the court for the Mocs this season. Juniors Erica Ronda and Rachael Martin are the ones to watch; Ronda leads the squad in kills and is second in digs, while Martin is second in kills, attack % and blocks. Tierra Porter has ten solo blocks on the year, which is second most in the conference.

Robinson's Ramblings

"We are looking forward to a great week of matches in front of our home crowd who provided a great atmosphere for our first home game. We hope everyone will not only help us get the conference victories, but also help us bring some joy to local children fighting cancer by bringing some crayons and coloring books to our Thursday night Colorful and Courageous game! This young team continues to work hard daily, and we are excited about being able to show our fans the progress they have made this week."

  • Head Coach Mika Robinson enters her fourth season with the Tars, and 12th overall as a head coach. Robinson has a record of 198-159.
  • This will be the 84th matchup between Rollins and Eckerd. Rollins leads the all-time series 56-27.
