Set Up

Rollins played hard last week, but were unable to capture a victory. Two of their three games went to five sets, and three of their sets took extra points before going final. Despite the winless record, the team played pretty well overall, tallying 55, 56, and 58 kills, respectively. The Tars host a pair of games this week against Barry on Thursday and Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.

Team Previews

Rollins (8-19, 3-13 SSC): The Tars remain in ninth place in the conference, tied with Florida Southern and ahead of Florida Tech. Rollins welcomed back Harper Smith last week, who had missed more than a month due to an injury. Smith had been leading the team in kills before she went down. In her stead, Riley Spurlin has stepped her game up tremendously. Last week, the freshman tallied 55 kills at an impressive .374%. Alexis Yeager continues to dominate at the net, as she sits at 96 total blocks on the season.

Barry (17-10, 10-6 SSC): The Buccaneers are the fourth place team in the conference after claiming victories over Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech last week. Barry is powered by the dynamic duo of Megi Buvinic and Kristina Filiminova, who are both over 300 kills on the season, and rank 7th and 8th in the conference in kills. The Buccaneers bread and butter comes on the defensive end however. They have the most blocks on the conference (2.41 per set), and the second lowest opponent hitting percentage (.163). Seven players on the team have at least 39 blocks, led by Anastasiia Samokhvalova who has 99.

Palm Beach Atlantic (15-12, 7-9 SSC): The Sailfish are one spot up on the Tars in the standings, with a four-game cushion. They went 1-1 last week with a win against Florida Tech and a loss to Embry-Riddle. Their top team stat category is service aces … Palm Beach Atlantic has the 2nd most in the SSC, 179. Sam Wolf, who recorded 14 kills at .522 in the first matchup between these two squads, ranks second in conference in kills per set at 3.62. The Sailfish took the first match between these two teams earlier this year, winning 3-0.

  • Head coach Mika Robinson is in her fourth season at the helm for the Tars, and 12th overall as a head coach. Her career record sits at 202-170.
  • This will be the 64th matchup between Rollins and Barry.
  • This will be the 33rd matchup between Rollins and Palm Beach Atlantic.

The Road Ahead

Rollins finishes up their season next week with a pair of home games. The Tars host Saint Leo on Thursday November 21 at 7 pm, and wrap things up with a game against Tampa on Saturday November 23 at 4 pm.
